The false door from the tomb of the Old Kingdom official Izi, discovered at Edfu in 1933 and re-excavated by a Polish-French mission in 1938 - described in the Museum's own digital collection record (translated from Polish) as the largest and most valuable ancient artifact in the gallery. Beyond the usual titles and names of the deceased, it carries an inscribed autobiography of Izi, one of the earliest such autobiographical texts known, recounting his rise through royal offices under Kings Izezi, Unas and Teti.
In the museum’s words — cyfrowe-api.mnw.art.pl ↗
